Art sheets
The artistic activities children carry out in Grade 1 are intended to enhance their appreciation of beauty and order and strengthen in them certain important skills and abilities, among them paying attention to detail and focusing on the task at hand. These skills and abilities are further cultivated in the twenty-one lessons in the first and second branch courses of Book 3, which are arranged into seven sets. Each set includes a series of activities focused on one of the basic elements of art: line, shape, color, texture, and form. Children are guided to apply what they learn to create simple images and art pieces that reflect the themes of the lessons—themes such as seeking knowledge, living in harmony with others, and devoting one’s life to service. In this way, the children deepen their understanding of the ideas discussed as they acquire knowledge, skills and abilities related to visual arts.
This component of the lessons is accompanied by a set of activity sheets and, though these sheets cannot be used in isolation from the lessons themselves, they are being provided here, so that they can be downloaded and reproduced easily by teachers as needed.
